Our fee is based on the complexity of your trip and health history. Discounts are available for each additional person traveling in the same group. Will my insurance cover this?
Most health insurers do not cover this type of preventative care. You will be provided with a statement that you can send to your insurer for possible reimbursement. We do not bill insurance companies.
Will my insurance cover me if I am sick or injured in a foreign country?
Call your insurer before you go and ask if you have coverage, what is covered and how it is covered. Medicare does not cover services in a foreign country. Some health care facilities in other countries will ask you to prove you can pay before you are treated. Many expect cash at the time of service. For these reasons, you may want to purchase travel health and evacuation insurance. Many of these plans provide you with a 24 hour, toll-free number to call for assistance in acquiring care, emergency evacuation and payment of your expenses. Will the shots hurt?
We understand that this is the hard part. We will do everything we can to make you comfortable. Most injections do not hurt that much (really - we have had them, too). Afterwards your arm may be sore and red. Applying ice, taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen can help. We are very good at giving shots!
If I am going to places like Mexico or the Caribbean I will not need anything, right?
You may need Hepatitis A vaccines and information and prescriptions to prevent traveler's diarrhea , dengue fever and malaria .
I am going to visit friends and relatives abroad. Do I still need to get shots or take preventative measures?
Yes, even if you lived overseas in the past, your immunity can decrease in as little as 6 months. You may not be as protected as you think.
What about the pregnant traveler or someone traveling with young children?
Pregnant women and children have special travel health needs that we can take care of. Children may need more than their routine childhood immunizations and need special attention in treating conditions such as traveler's diarrhea.
I'm traveling with an elderly relative. Is there anything special I need to know?
A person's age can affect travel health risks. If a person has diabetes, heart or lung disease or other chronic health problems, we can help devise a plan to meet their special needs and help to evaluate the trip to be sure it is appropriate for an elderly person with health issues.
